There are some who consider themselves “famous” photographers. Some can claim the fame even without a camera. However, most famous abstract photographers do not have a camera to back them up. I am of the school that feels this is the key to being a famous photographer. Having a camera just gives one the feeling of having a “stage presence.” A stage presence!

Many of today's greatest abstract photographers either started out as “stage” models or worked with famous photographers before becoming abstract artists. Just think about Andy Warhol. Before he was a fashion photographer, he was an industrial photographer. And he certainly did not have a digital camera to take his “stage” photographs. But once he created his first series of photographs, they instantly became famous.

An example of this is printing press photography by unknowns. These prints were sold for pennies and were hung on the walls of art galleries around the country. A babbitt binder, which is a type of album, containing a collection of babbitt prints was printed to go along with the binder.
